I'm a fan of big hits in football. I"m also a patriots homer. With those two things being said, hits like these leave me thinking two things...
1) It's amazing that guys with the stature of Wes Welker continually go across the middle and make plays...knowing that hits like that are inevitable. Risking this type of abuse is what makes great receivers great. Not that Welker is Jerry Rice or anything, but his stats put him up there as one of the best of the last two seasons.
2) Hits like that, while amazing to see, are pathetic. I don't care who is doing the hitting. Especially in this case...the defender could potentially end a career just so that he could show how hard he could blindside hit a "defenseless receiver"...I think it's lame and expect that that defender will be fined.

did the basketball announcer really use the line "I've fallen and I can't get up."... I think I could be an announcer.
